Under mysterious circumstances, a somewhat hapless fellow from your past turns up in your neighborhood. His wedding is in six hours. He has no idea how he's going to get there on time. Unless ... well, you have a car, right?

Face road hazards and roleplay the tense situation of a forced roadtrip as either the Ex, the Former Coworker, or the Old Friend, each with their own stats and a unique single-use move.

This game was created for the Goose James Game Jam, with a silly premise in order to seriously practice crafting dice mechanics. It has been somewhat but not extensively playtested -- if you choose to run it, keep me in the loop! For this reason, it's priced at a suggested $1. If you need that $1 for food & bills, feel free to download without paying.

The mechanics used in Taking a Gander are modified Powered by the Apocalypse rules, based on the Apocalypse World games by Meguey and Vincent Baker. Apologies to anyone who notices this is a very clunky use of it.

Cover image made in MSPaint with public domain photography.
Fonts used are Pacifico (title & headings) and Righteous (body & page text).

This game was created on the occupied land of the Duwamish. This creator supports returning all lands, ceded and unceded, to the care of Indigenous people.
